Cable Assembly Technician I

Description
Entry-level technician who learns to build, terminate, and test cable assemblies and wire harnesses by following detailed work instructions and receiving on-the-job training.
Responsibilities
- Cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires and cables per work instructions and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
- Build cable assemblies and wire harnesses using connectors, terminals, heat shrink, and lacing materials
- Perform point-to-point wiring and soldering of connectors as required
- Read and interpret basic wiring diagrams, cable drawings, and bill of materials
- Perform continuity checks and basic electrical testing on completed assemblies
- Follow prescribed assembly sequences, work orders, and production schedules
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Follow safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment
- Participate in on-the-job training and skill development activities
- Assist supervisors and senior technicians as required
Requirements
- No prior experience in cable assembly or electronics manufacturing required
- Open-minded and willing to learn new skills
- Good hand-eye coordination and ability to work with small wires, pins, and connectors
- Ability to read and follow detailed visual work instructions and diagrams
- Positive attitude and a proactive approach to work
- Must be able to work well with both colleagues and management
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous manufacturing or hands-on assembly experience
- Familiarity with basic hand tools (wire strippers, crimpers, soldering iron)
