Description

Entry-level operator who learns to operate and maintain automated SMT line equipment by following detailed procedures and receiving on-the-job training. Works under direct supervision to develop foundational skills in pick-and-place operation, stencil printing, and reflow soldering.


Responsibilities

  • Operate SMT line equipment including pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, and reflow ovens under the direction of senior operators or supervisors
  • Load and verify feeders, trays, and tubes with correct components per bill of materials and setup documentation
  • Perform basic machine operations including board loading/unloading, feeder replenishment, and splice handling
  • Monitor SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems for defect alerts and escalate findings to senior operators
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks including nozzle cleaning, stencil wiping, and machine lubrication per maintenance schedules
  • Manage solder paste inventory on the line including proper storage, rotation, and expiration tracking
  • Read and follow bills of materials, setup sheets, work instructions, and visual aids to complete tasks accurately
  • Follow work orders and production schedules to meet daily output targets
  • Maintain accurate records of production quantities, material usage, and downtime events
  • Follow all safety protocols and ESD handling procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 6S principles
  • Participate in on-the-job training and skill development activities
  • Assist supervisors and senior operators as required

Requirements

  • No prior SMT or electronics manufacturing experience required
  • Open-minded and willing to learn automated equipment operation
  • Good mechanical aptitude and comfort working with precision machinery
  • Ability to read and follow detailed visual work instructions and setup documentation
  • Basic computer skills for interacting with machine interfaces
  • Positive attitude and a proactive approach to work
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Must be able to work well with both colleagues and management

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous manufacturing, machine operation, or hands-on technical experience
  • Basic familiarity with electronic components and circuit board assemblies
  • Familiarity with 6S workplace organization principles
