Cable Assembly Technician II

Description
Experienced technician who independently builds, terminates, and tests a range of cable assemblies and wire harnesses with minimal supervision. Serves as a resource for Level I technicians and contributes to process improvement efforts.

First Shift
6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Second Shift
2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Responsibilities
- Independently build complex cable assemblies and wire harnesses to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 2 and Class 3 standards
- Perform precision crimping, soldering, potting, and connector termination on a variety of connector types including D-sub, circular, RF, and mil-spec connectors
- Read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings with minimal guidance
- Perform electrical testing including continuity, hi-pot, and insulation resistance testing
- Identify and disposition non-conforming materials per quality procedures
- Conduct in-process and final inspections on own work and peer work
- Train and mentor Level I technicians on assembly techniques and workmanship standards
- Support first article builds and prototype cable assemblies for new programs
- Suggest process improvements to increase quality, efficiency, or throughput
- Maintain tools and equipment; report calibration needs or maintenance issues
- Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cable assembly or wire harness manufacturing
- Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards
- Proficiency with crimping tools, soldering equipment, and cable testing instruments
- Ability to independently read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Demonstrated ability to meet production targets while maintaining quality standards
- Effective communication skills and willingness to mentor junior technicians

Preferred Qualifications
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) certification
- IPC J-STD-001 certification
- Experience with aerospace or defense cable assembly requirements
- Experience working in an AS9100D-certified environment
