Description

Experienced technician who independently builds, terminates, and tests a range of cable assemblies and wire harnesses with minimal supervision. Serves as a resource for Level I technicians and contributes to process improvement efforts.


Responsibilities

  • Independently build complex cable assemblies and wire harnesses to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 2 and Class 3 standards
  • Perform precision crimping, soldering, potting, and connector termination on a variety of connector types including D-sub, circular, RF, and mil-spec connectors
  • Read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings with minimal guidance
  • Perform electrical testing including continuity, hi-pot, and insulation resistance testing
  • Identify and disposition non-conforming materials per quality procedures
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections on own work and peer work
  • Train and mentor Level I technicians on assembly techniques and workmanship standards
  • Support first article builds and prototype cable assemblies for new programs
  • Suggest process improvements to increase quality, efficiency, or throughput
  • Maintain tools and equipment; report calibration needs or maintenance issues
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in cable assembly or wire harness manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards
  • Proficiency with crimping tools, soldering equipment, and cable testing instruments
  • Ability to independently read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Demonstrated ability to meet production targets while maintaining quality standards
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to mentor junior technicians

Preferred Qualifications

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) certification
  • IPC J-STD-001 certification
  • Experience with aerospace or defense cable assembly requirements
  • Experience working in an AS9100-certified environment
