Description

Entry-level technician who learns to perform precision hand soldering and assembly of electronic components by following detailed work instructions and receiving on-the-job training. Works under direct supervision to develop foundational soldering skills and workmanship to IPC standards.


Responsibilities

  • Perform through-hole and basic surface mount hand soldering per IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 workmanship standards
  • Assemble electronic components and sub-assemblies according to work instructions and prescribed assembly sequences
  • Use hand tools and basic equipment including soldering irons, hot air stations, and inspection aids
  • Read and follow bills of materials, assembly drawings, and written work instructions to complete tasks accurately
  • Perform visual inspection of own work using magnification tools and IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria
  • Follow work orders and production schedules to meet daily output targets
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time tracking
  • Report quality observations and non-conformances to the quality department
  • Follow safety protocols and ESD handling procedures to maintain a secure work environment
  • Participate in on-the-job training and skill development activities
  • Actively contribute to a positive and proactive work atmosphere
  • Assist supervisors and senior technicians as required

Requirements

  • No prior experience in electronics assembly required; candidates with up to 1 year of experience are ideal
  • Open-minded and willing to learn precision soldering techniques
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to work with small components under magnification
  • Ability to read and follow detailed visual work instructions and assembly diagrams
  • Positive attitude and a proactive approach to work
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Must be able to work well with both colleagues and management

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, or hands-on technical experience
  • Basic familiarity with soldering tools and electronic components
  • Familiarity with 6S workplace organization principles
