Materials Coordinator II

Description
Experienced coordinator who independently manages the physical and systematic flow of materials for manufacturing. Ensures the correct components are received, kitted, and delivered to the production line on time while maintaining accurate inventory records in ERP/MRP systems. Serves as a resource for Level I coordinators and takes ownership of day-to-day material availability for production.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely availability of materials for production by coordinating with production supervisors and planners on material requirements and priorities
- Independently manage kitting and staging of materials per bill of materials and work order documentation; verify component quantities, lot codes, and date codes prior to release
- Perform complete receiving operations including quantity verification, packing slip reconciliation, lot/date code recording, and system receipt transactions
- Assist quality personnel with incoming material inspections by staging materials, pulling documentation, and recording inspection results
- Maintain accurate records in ERP/MRP systems including receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, and kit status updates
- Conduct regular cycle counts and inventory reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies independently
- Manage material storage locations and bin assignments to optimize warehouse organization and retrieval efficiency
- Track material shelf life, moisture sensitivity levels, and special storage requirements for ESD-sensitive and environmentally controlled components
- Prepare and process outgoing shipments including packing, labeling, carrier coordination, and shipping documentation
- Generate pick lists, shortage reports, and inventory status reports from ERP/MRP systems
- Train and mentor Level I coordinators on warehouse procedures, system transactions, and material handling practices
- Coordinate with purchasing on material shortages, delivery schedules, and receiving discrepancies
- Maintain warehouse equipment in good working order; report maintenance needs
- Follow all safety protocols and ESD handling procedures
- Follow 6S principles to maintain a clean and safe working environment
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in warehouse, inventory, or materials coordination in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP system transactions including receiving, issuing, transfers, and adjustments
- Strong understanding of inventory control principles including cycle counting, FIFO, and lot traceability
- Ability to read and interpret bills of materials, packing slips, and shipping documents
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a high degree of accuracy in data entry
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment
- Effective communication skills and willingness to mentor junior coordinators
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Physical stamina and dexterity necessary for warehouse work
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or EMS environment
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management system requirements
- Experience with shipping carriers, freight logistics, and export documentation
- Familiarity with ESD handling and moisture sensitivity requirements for electronic components
- Forklift certification
- Familiarity with 6S principles
